About Stellar Data Recovery

Stellar Data Recovery is quite a big name in the industry. It’s gone by many names in the past, such as Stellar Phoenix, Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery, and Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery. It’s all the same company.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery reviews the damage made to your PC and retrieves files, such as documents, images, or videos that have either been lost, accidentally deleted, or are simply inaccessible for unknown reasons.

There aren’t many data recovery service providers quite like Stellar. Sure, some users may just flat out recommend that you be proactive and arm yourself with reliable data loss prevention software, but as this Forbes article puts it, we can’t all be on top of everything.

Stellar Data Recovery Pricing and Plans

There are many factors to consider when picking the best data recovery software, but pricing is usually one of the most important. Our Stellar Data Recovery review of its price plans has shown that users can choose among six payment plans, of which one is free, and the rest cost between $49.99 and $299 for one year. You could compare this to EaseUs, which costs $69.95 per month, $99.95 per year, or $149.95 for a lifetime.

The free plan, released in July 2020, won’t cost you a dime. With it, you can recover up to 1 GB of data that’s been deleted from your PC or external hard drive, lost after formatting a USB stick or an SD card, or trapped on malware-infected drives.

The Standard plan costs $59.99 and offers the same features as the free plan, but with unlimited data recovery.

Most often mentioned in Stellar Data Recovery reviews, the Professional plan will set you back $89.99 for a year’s license on both Mac and Windows platforms. Users can easily recover files of any kind from crashed and unbootable systems, as well as files from basically any drive or optical media. It also retrieves data from lost Windows partitions.

With the price tag of $99.99, the Premium plan helps recover any file type on Windows. It can also repair corrupted photo and video files or retrieve data from non-booting crashed Windows OS.

The Technician plan costs $199 per year, and is essentially a RAID (redundant array of independent disks) data recovery tool, able to recover any file format or type.

Stellar Data Recovery’s most comprehensive plan is as popular as the Stellar Data Recovery Professional plan, but costs way more. Going for $299 a year, the Toolkit plan offers recovery from all types of drives and lost or inaccessible RAID 0, RAID 5, and RAID 6 arrays. Most importantly, it supports the NTFS, FAT, exFAT, APFS, HFS, HFS+, Ext2, Ext3, and Ext4 file systems.

File System and File Type Support

The NTFS, FAT, FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, Ext2, Ext3, Ext4, HFS, HFS+, and APFS file systems are fully supported by Stellar Data Recovery. Over 200 file formats are recoverable. While some other providers offer support for more file formats, Stellar still beats them with the possibility to add new file types manually.

Bootable Recovery Media

From our Stellar Data Recovery review, one feature we really appreciated was the fact that you’re able to restore lost data, even from systems that have crashed. By creating a bootable USB recovery media, you can access the storage drive and recover lost files. However, this feature is only available on the paid plans.

User Interface

Stellar’s interface is minimalistic and uncomplicated. Everything is clearly laid out, so navigation is smooth.

The cloning feature lets you create an exact copy of a disk on another drive. You’ll find this very useful if you’re at the risk of losing a particular disk.

Corrupted Video Repair

Recovering deleted files is one thing. But what about repairs? From our Stellar Data Recovery software reviews, we found that losing files due to corruption was not an unsolvable issue.

Corrupted Photo Repair

With Stellar’s File Repair Toolkit, fixing damaged image files is a breeze. The tool fixes all common problems, such as distortion, graying out, blurriness, and pixelation.

Partition Recovery

When partitions are corrupted, you can only access them after reformatting. But with Stellar, you can recover the files before reformatting. All data from any partition can be retrieved. Deleted or lost partitions can also be found using the Deep Scan and “Can’t Find Drive” features.

Stellar Photo Recovery

Touted as the best photo recovery software on the market, the Stellar Photo Recovery tool is the one to go for in case you lose your photos and videos. It also supports the recovery of RAW file formats.

Data Recovery Process

Once you’ve downloaded and installed the Stellar Data Recovery software, the retrieval process is as straightforward as it can get, with just three steps:

  • Step 1: Choose the type of data meant for recovery.
  • Step 2: Select which storage device you’d like to scan.
  • Step 3: Proceed to save your recovered data.

System Requirements

Available as Stellar Data Recovery for Windows and Mac, the software is accessible on the average computer: You need to have an operating system with one of the following OS: Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista & XP or macOS Monterey 12, Big Sur 11, Catalina 10.15, 10.14, 10.13, 10.12 & 10.11, a minimum of 2 GB of RAM, and a hard disk with a minimum of 250 MB of free space.

Customer Support

Stellar provides an extensive knowledge base with solutions to the most common problems. Should that not suffice, there is a dedicated help desk available 24 hours a day on business days to help you solve more complex issues.

Our inquiries have confirmed the claims from various Stellar Data Recovery reviews that response time takes only about five minutes.

Customer support is provided via phone, live chat, and an online ticket system. Phone support is available across the globe; however, it’s only provided in English. Besides the knowledge base, there is also an FAQ section that answers users’ most likely questions.

The customer support technicians we got in contact with were very helpful, not to mention very courteous.

Feedback From Users

“Great user interface,” “effective performance,” and “user-friendly” are just some of the praises you could find on many user-based review sites like Trustpilot for Stellar Data Recovery. Sure, there’s talk of the Stellar Recovery scam regarding the refund policy on BBB, but if you take a closer look, further Stellar Phoenix Database Recovery reviews have shown that to be more of a communication problem, so there’s really no cause for alarm.

How Has Stellar Changed Over Time?

As one of the global leaders in the data recovery industry, Stellar always has to stay ahead of the competition. During our Stellar Data Recovery review, we could see how this product has evolved and continually been working on improving its key features.

The latest Stellar Data Recovery was designed to help all Windows and macOS users affected by data loss incidents. It is compatible with the newest macOS (Big Sur) and Windows 11, and it allows users to recover 1 GB of data completely free of charge. They can recover deleted or lost data from various internal and external hard drives, including SD cards, SSDs, USB jump drives, and other storage devices.

There are many different products to choose from when you’re looking for a data recovery solution. Although Stellar has lots of excellent features, it isn’t the only available option. Let’s see what the alternatives are.

Stellar vs. EaseUS

EaseUS is another renowned file recovery solution and one of Stellar’s major competitors. They both have some high-quality tools in common, but if you dig deeper, you’ll see that there are some significant differences between the two. One of the first things you will notice is that, unlike EaseUS, Stellar has a scan mode and the “customize scan” possibility.

On the other hand, the free version of EaseUS allows users to recover up to 2 GB of data, while Stellar’s free plan allows the recovery of only 1 GB of data. If you need unlimited data recovery, you can upgrade to Stellar’s Standard yearly plan for $49.99 or go with EaseUS for $99.95 a year, which is a significant price difference.

However, EaseUS’s Pro version does have more features than Stellar’s Standard plan; EaseUS Pro is more on par with Stellar Premium, which costs $99.99/year.

Stellar vs. Recuva

Recuva is another advanced recovery tool designed by the creators of CCleaner. Unlike Stellar and EaseUS, Recuva is compatible only with Windows devices, which will be a problem if you are a macOS enthusiast. Recuva comes in two tiers, Recuva Free and Recuva Professional. The Professional tier costs $19.95 a year and includes premium support, virtual hard drive support, and automatic updates.

However, be advised that you can only contact Recuva through email, and although you will have priority with a Professional plan, there still isn’t any live chat or phone option.

Bottom Line

Being able to recover lost files is a blessing. It’s great that Stellar tells you what files can be recovered beforehand without you having to necessarily commit to any of the payment plans.

Its ‘stellar’ performances make it one of the best undelete software tools you can find. You can be sure to recover lost files, accidentally or intentionally deleted. Granted, it is not the cheapest data recovery software out there, but the wealth of tools and features it provides you with are worth the price.
